Meet Linda Morgan!
Writing about our amazing customers never gets old. As you will read in Linda's story below, she made one hundred quilts in the first year she began quilting! Wow! What she didn't include and happened to tell me later - and gave me permission to share - was that after suffering a traumatic brain injury, she began quilting as a form of therapy to improve her muscle memory. According to her neuropsychologist, the best thing for her is to feel productive and use a hobby that fosters creativity and push that creativity to the limits. Linda says there are scientific studies that have proven quilting is an excellent activity for those suffering from brain injuries. That is amazing, isn't it? Congratulations Linda! you are my type of "go big or go home" woman!

Linda writes:

My story is fun! I have a successful lifelong career in previous sewing businesses (both before and after my 20+ yrs career as a CPA) specializing in custom orders for individuals, bridal parties, home dec, cheerleaders, drill teams, choirs, pageant, American Girl doll clothing, children’s wear & babies

My mother, now 94, was my first source of inspiration. My job was to hand her the scissors as I sat mesmerized at her side. (She still uses those same scissors today!) By my early teens, I was sewing my own clothes, clothes for my sisters and friends and started taking my first custom orders. I have loved sewing for them as well as my two sons, six grandchildren, parents, in-laws, nieces & nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Now I have a passion for quilting! I started quilting two years ago when I joined local chapter #249 of Prayers & Squares, an international/interfaith ministry of volunteers creating beautiful quilts with ribbons that carry the prayers for someone in need of the power of prayer to heal from a variety of personal issues. We quilt all day once a week on Mondays as a group (or did before COVID….now it is a weekly Zoom meeting on Monday) and quilt individually at home during the remainder of the week. That first year of quilting, I made over 100 quilts & followed thru on the encouragement of my quilting friends by entering my first quilt competition….and was selected into the juried show !!!

I can’t imagine a day without some element of fabric. Additionally, I now look forward to quilting each quilt top as I set a personal goal last year to be competent at free motion quilting, either from stencils, ruler work, or both, by year-end. I adore all feather plume designs!! Regular & consistent machine practice, as well as doodling, is the key to success. I doodle both from my imagination as well as doodling Full Line Stencils. It really helps! Full Line Stencils are the only stencils I buy. I use them in combination with each other, with ruler work or free-motion designs. Although I own many of their stencils, I still have 37 stencils on the website wishlist!

Blessings to all,

Linda
